Hávamál 38 — Be Prepared | Matte Poster
Preparation matters most when the need for it comes without warning.
Hávamál 38 warns against traveling unprepared. A person cannot know what may wait along the road or when the tools needed for protection might suddenly become necessary.
Beyond its literal advice, the lesson speaks to a broader principle: prepare before the moment of need arrives. Capability, foresight, and readiness are built beforehand, not improvised when circumstances turn against us.
This print captures the traveler setting out equipped for an uncertain road — a reminder that we cannot predict every challenge, but we can choose whether we meet it prepared.
Featuring Hávamál 38 from the Henry Adams Bellows translation.
